When a FAAC gate hinge bracket, weld-on mounting plate, or ram anchor tears loose, most Fort Worth homeowners don’t need a whole new operator. They need a welder who actually knows FAAC geometry. We stock the common weld-on brackets, hinge assemblies, and fabrication plates that match FAAC 400, 412, 415, and 770 series operators, and we install them typically between $220 and $485 depending on what’s torn and whether the post needs reinforcement first. You’ll have the exact number in writing before we strike an arc.
The telltale moment is usually a gate that starts to sag by half an inch, then suddenly clunks against the post every time it cycles. That clunk is the welded bracket fighting the last thread of its life. Here’s what to know before you spend a dollar.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
Welding and fabrication work on FAAC gates splits into two worlds: the 400-series swing operators (400, 412, 415, and their compact 390 sibling) and the 770-series sliding gate operators. Each one has different anchor points, so the first step is always identifying exactly where your part lives.
On swing gates, the most common welding points are the ram’s rear mounting bracket, the front clevis that pins to the gate leaf, and the hinge side where a fatigued post face needs a steel plate before the bracket can be reattached. On sliding gates, we’re usually fabricating or repairing the drive rack mounts, the wheel carrier plates, or the end stops that see impact every single cycle.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners hit: a used or aftermarket bracket that “fits FAAC 400” often doesn’t have the same offset as the original casting. That half-inch difference changes the ram’s arc and puts a twisting load on the piston rod seal, which leaks oil within a season. We run original FAAC weld fixtures or fabricate to the original offset spec, not “close enough.” If you’ve got the old bracket still hanging by one weld, keep it. It’s the measurement template.
For OEM versus aftermarket on FAAC specifically: original cast brackets are worth the money on the ram side, where the load path matters. Aftermarket fabricated plates are fine on static areas like post reinforcement, where a heavier plate actually helps. We keep both on the truck.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags noticeably at the hinge or ram end. Weld fatigue shows up as vertical drop first. The bracket stretches its weld points microscopically before it cracks through, so sag almost always precedes the loud failure.
- You hear a metallic clunk when the gate starts or stops. That’s the ram anchor shifting in its worn hole or the fabricated plate slapping the post. The sound is the part moving when it shouldn’t move at all.
- The gate shudders mid-travel instead of gliding. A cracked weld flexes under load, and that flex turns into oscillation. Think of it like a straw bending back and forth until it kinks permanently.
- Paint keeps chipping off around the bracket or hinge. Fresh rust or flaking in one concentrated ring means the steel underneath is flexing just enough to crack the finish. The paint is the canary.
- The ram moves but the gate hesitates or binds. When a mount shifts out of alignment, the piston rod catches at an angle. You’ll see uneven wear on the clevis pin and eventually a leaking seal.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Fort Worth, expect to pay $220 to $485 for most FAAC welding and fabrication repairs. A simple bracket tack-and-reinforce runs at the lower end. A post that needs a fabricated steel plate plus realignment sits higher because we’re cutting, fitting, and welding on site, then repainting the repair so it doesn’t rust in the first Texas rain.
Every quote includes the steel, the welding rod or wire, the grinding and cleanup of the weld zone, and a cold galvanizing or paint pass that matches the gate as close as we can get it. Labor runs $90 to $130 per hour and most repairs finish in two to three hours. Here’s the thing that matters more than the line item: we tell you the total before we touch it, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the repair after we leave. If that weld moves, we come back and fix it. No argument, no fine print.
DIY or Call Us?
Welding on a FAAC gate is not a weekend project. The ram side and hinge side both carry tension and shear loads, and a weld that’s not burned in properly will fail at the worst possible moment, usually when the gate is halfway through its arc over a kid’s bike or a dog’s tail. We’ve had to repair more than one “buddy with a welder” job where the amateur bead looked fine for three weeks and then snapped clean at the toe.
What you can safely do: note where the clunk comes from, photograph the crack before it fully separates, and shut the gate off at the breaker if the movement looks dangerous. Don’t try to hold weight with ratchet straps and weld under load. Don’t grind the crack “a little to see how deep it goes.” A gate that’s sagging under its own weight is storing energy, and the moment you cut the last bit of intact steel, that energy has to go somewhere. Call us at (682) 841-5749 and describe what the gate’s doing. Tell me what the gate is doing, and we’ll tell you what it needs. Usually those are two different conversations.
FAQs
A properly welded FAAC bracket on a reinforced post lasts 10 to 15 years in our climate. The main killers are the freeze-thaw cycle in January and February, which works on hairline cracks, and the relentless summer heat that makes steel expand and contract daily. Gates near the Trinity River corridor or any unshaded west-facing install tend to fatigue their mounts faster.
Sometimes. If the crack is in the plate itself and the metal around it is sound, we can grind a clean groove, weld it, and add a reinforcement plate. If the crack runs into the factory bend or the bolt hole, replacement is cheaper than a repair that will crack again in six months. We’ll show you the crack under light before we quote, so you see what we see.
Most repairs run two to three hours from setup to final paint. That includes the cool-down time between passes, which is the part you can’t rush without weakening the weld. We quote a window, we show up in that window, and we finish the day the weld goes in.
We carry the common FAAC 400-series and 770-series weld-on brackets, clevis pins, and plate stock on the truck. If your gate needs a harder-to-find casting, we can usually get it from our supply network within a few days. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls, so if your other gate uses a different brand, we can often handle both in the same visit.
Give us a call at (682) 841-5749 for a free estimate. We’ll lay drop cloths if we need to step inside, put on shoe covers, and leave your gate moving the way it should. Every job gets a written price before we start, and every call gets a live person. That’s been the way we work since 2009, and it’s not changing.
