We stock and install Elite-compatible keypad and intercom replacements across Fort Worth, and most jobs run between $240 and $640 installed depending on whether we’re replacing the keypad face, the intercom board, or both. Same-day service is available in most areas of Fort Worth because our trucks carry the common Elite SL3000 and Mircom-compatible parts. The typical caller tells us the keypad stopped accepting the code about two weeks after it started working “sometimes” – usually after a thunderstorm or a hard freeze.
Elite keypads are built into the gate post or a nearby pedestal, which means the failure is usually weather intrusion at the face seal or a shorted ribbon cable behind the buttons. We replaced one near the TCU campus where the keypad had been accepting the code only after the third try for almost a year – the owner had memorized the rhythm of it. If that sounds familiar, the part isn’t going to get better on its own.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
We service the Elite keypads and intercoms most commonly installed on residential and light commercial gates in Fort Worth: the SL3000 slide gate operator series, the CSW200 swing gate line, and the older DialCode DC-1000 pedestal units that Elite private-labeled years ago. The intercom side we see most is the Mircom-compatible Elite intercom module paired with a telephone-entry box at the curb.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha worth knowing before you order anything online: several Elite keypad models look nearly identical from the front but use different ribbon-cable pin counts behind the face. The SL3000’s keypad uses a 16-pin connector, while some of the older DialCode units use a 10-pin. People buy a $90 “Elite replacement keypad” from an online marketplace, watch a video, and discover the connector doesn’t match. We stock both versions on the truck and match the part by the white label on the back of the keypad face or by counting pins with the power off.
On OEM versus aftermarket: the genuine Elite keypad face runs between $110 and $185 for the part alone, and the quality of the button membrane is noticeably better than the no-name equivalents. But there are a couple of quality aftermarket brands that match the OEM fit and last just as long in Texas heat, which keeps the installed price down by about $60. We’ll show you both options in writing before we touch anything.

Signs Your Elite Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
- The keypad only accepts the code on the third or fourth try. This is almost always a worn button membrane. Each press completes less contact than the last, and the board eventually reads only the presses with enough force behind them.
- Specific buttons won’t respond at all. When the “star” or a single digit dies completely, you’re looking at a broken trace inside the keypad ribbon. The board is fine; the face needs replacing.
- The intercom audibly hums but voices come through garbled. This points to corrosion at the speaker connection inside the pedestal. Fort Worth’s humidity swings do this over time, especially on gates that face north and never dry out.
- The keypad lights up but the gate doesn’t move. This one is often not the keypad at all – it’s the relay board inside the SL3000 control box. We test this before ordering anything, because a new keypad won’t fix a dead relay.
- The code resets to factory default after a storm. A power surge took out the unit’s memory. Some Elite boards have a small internal battery that dies; on other models, the surge is the first sign the board itself is on borrowed time.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Fort Worth homeowners, here’s the range we quote most often:
- Keypad face replacement only: $240 – $380 installed
- Intercom module replacement only: $310 – $520 installed
- Complete keypad-plus-intercom replacement (pedestal included): $480 – $640 installed
Every quote includes the part, the labor, the weather sealing around the new unit, and the programming of your existing codes so nothing changes on your end. You’ll see the exact number in writing before any work starts, and that number won’t move unless we find something genuinely broken behind the panel that you and our technician agree on fixing.
The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise – if the replacement fails within a year, we make it right. No argument, no fine print. Latch and Post Gate Repair Fort Worth is an independent service provider; we’re not affiliated with Elite, but we stock and install their parts daily.
DIY or Call Us?
The honest split is this: if you can open the pedestal and see a swollen or corroded battery, you can replace that yourself – if you can find the right battery locally, which most Fort Worth hardware stores don’t carry in the specific style Elite uses. Most of the battery options online are counterfeits that leak within a Texas summer.
Anything involving the ribbon cable, the control board, or wiring near the line-voltage side is where DIY goes wrong. These units carry low-voltage control signals, but the pedestal often shares a box with 120-volt supply lines for the gate operator. A wrong probe with a multimeter on that side can short the operator board – which turns a $300 repair into a $1,400 one. If the keypad opens the gate but the intercom crackles, or the keypad only works intermittently, call us at (682) 841-5749 and we’ll diagnose it on the first visit rather than guessing at parts.
FAQs
Five to seven years is realistic on the membrane and speaker, with the button surfaces usually wearing first because of Fort Worth’s sun and heat. A keypad under a shade canopy and away from direct afternoon exposure adds two or three years to that range.
Usually not for the button membrane itself – when the printed traces inside the keypad wear through, there’s no clean way to repair them. The intercom board can sometimes be repaired if the failure is a single capacitor, and Cody will tell you when that’s the cheaper route rather than selling you a part you don’t need.
Most replacements take an hour to ninety minutes on site, including programming your existing access codes and testing the intercom through the phone line. We lay down a drop cloth, put on shoe covers, and keep the phone-line work inside your house to about fifteen minutes.
Yes – we keep the common keypad faces, intercom modules, and both the 16-pin and 10-pin ribbon versions loaded on our Fort Worth trucks. For less common parts we order direct from our supplier, and in most cases that’s a two-day wait. Call (682) 841-5749 and we’ll tell you upfront what’s likely in stock for your model.
