If the weld on your BFT gate has cracked or the fabricated bracket that holds your operator gave way, we can match the part, fabricate a replacement, and install it, usually within a 20-mile drive of Fort Worth. Most BFT welding and fabrication repairs on residential gates run between $280 and $650 installed, depending on whether it’s a hinge bracket, an operator mount, or a full gate frame repair. You’ll see the exact number in writing before we touch anything.
Here’s the tell: you’ll hear a groan when the gate moves, or the gate will sag toward the unhinged side, or the operator will push and the gate won’t respond the way it did six months ago. The weld didn’t fail overnight. It was rusting or flexing for months before it let go, and that’s a Fort Worth reality we’ll get into below. No appointment needed to ask us about it. Call (682) 841-5749 and a live person picks up.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
BFT makes several operator lines that end up attached to residential and light commercial gates across Fort Worth, and the welding points differ by model. The Deimos BT and Deimos Ultra swing gate operators mount to steel posts or fabricated plates that carry the motor’s torque into the gate leaf. The Phobos and Rigel slide operators sit on a steel plinth pad, which is often welded or bolted to a concrete base by another trade, and that’s where we see issues. The Icaro hydraulic operator needs a welded mounting bracket that has to be dead level, and after a few years of Texas heat and soil movement, it isn’t.
If you still have the manual or the operator’s data plate, look for the model name followed by a series letter and voltage code. BFT’s swing arms and slide racks have specific throw distances and rack pitches that don’t cross over, so don’t guess based on a photo from a similar-looking gate. On the fabrication side, an OEM BFT bracket is usually the right call for the operator itself, but a quality aftermarket hinge or frame reinforcement made from 1/4-inch A36 steel plate will often outlast the original, especially here where rust is the slow killer.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- Gate drifts or sags on the hinge side. The top weld on the hinge bracket has fractured from repeated opening cycles, and the gate is now hanging on the lower weld alone. It will eventually tear that one too.
- Operator pushes but the gate stutters. The mounting plate has loosened or cracked, so the operator’s force is being lost into a flexing bracket instead of moving the gate. This is common on BFT Deimos models installed on thin-walled posts.
- Rust-colored crack lines at the weld toe. Texas humidity plus sprinkler overspray plus road salts in winter create a reaction along the weld edge. You’ll see a hairline crack running parallel to the bead. That’s not cosmetic.
- Gate bounces when it stops. The fabricated stop block or limit stop has broken free of its weld, so the gate over-travels and then jerks back. On slide gates, you’ll hear the rack teeth skip.
- Operator makes a low grinding sound. A cracked mount changes the gear alignment inside the operator housing. Left alone, you’ll be replacing the operator too, not just the bracket.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Fort Worth, most welded bracket replacements run $280 to $450 if we’re working with the existing operator and the post is sound. A full fabricated hinge set with new barrel hinges and a reinforcement plate typically lands between $450 and $650. If the gate frame itself is compromised, say the bottom rail has rotted from the inside, we’ll quote the fabrication separately and explain why before any steel is cut.
Every quote includes removal of the failed part, surface prep and rust treatment, the new or fabricated component, welding, alignment, and a full cycle test of the operator and safety edges. You get the written price before we start, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work. We lay drop cloths on the driveway and clean up the grinding debris, and we’ll send a photo of the finished site before we leave. If you have kids or a dog, we can schedule the grinding during school hours or after your evening quiet time.
What drives the price is accessibility and what the weld attaches to. A post that’s full of rust scale needs grinding back to clean metal, and that takes time. A gate that has to be removed and laid flat for welding costs more than one we can weld in place. We’ll tell you which one you have and what it costs before work begins.
DIY or Call Us?
If the weld is cracked, don’t try to “welding fix” it with a consumer-grade MIG or flux-core machine unless you’re a licensed welder. A gate under tension will fail a bad weld while a kid is walking through it, and that’s a risk no homeowner should carry. What you can safely do is check the hinge bolts for tightness, clear debris from the post base, and note whether the gate rubs the ground or the operator housing. Those details help us diagnose faster when we get there.
For the weld itself, call (682) 841-5749. Our crew has welded and refabricated enough BFT mounts across Fort Worth to know exactly where the factory welds give up and how to place the replacement bead so it outlasts the original. You’ll get a straight answer on price and a live person on the phone, every time.
FAQs
Properly prepped and painted steel welds on gate hardware in the Fort Worth climate typically last 10 to 15 years before rust re-establishes, with the first signs usually appearing at the weld toe within 5 to 7 years if sprinklers hit the gate. A bare weld with no paint will start losing material within two seasons.
Call (682) 841-5749 and we’ll tell you what your specific gate is facing.
Sometimes, and that’s the first thing we check. If the crack is short, the surrounding steel is sound, and the bracket hasn’t distorted, we can grind out the crack, re-weld, and gusset the plate for strength, which usually costs less than a full replacement. If the plate has torn or the weld has failed twice, replacement is the honest call.
Call (682) 841-5749 for an exact answer after we look at it, estimates are free.
Most BFT bracket replacements are done in one visit, usually 2 to 4 hours including removal, prep, weld, cool-down, paint, and operator testing. A full fabricated hinge replacement may take 4 to 6 hours, and if we need to custom-fabricate a plate that isn’t on the truck, we’ll return within a few days with the part built to spec.
Call (682) 841-5749 to schedule a time that works for your family.
We stock common BFT-compatible brackets, hinge plates, and gussets on the truck, along with fabrication steel, so most jobs are one-visit. When a specialized BFT component is needed, we order it and return to install it, with the price confirmed before you pay a dime.
We also keep parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls, so the fix is usually a single visit.
If your BFT gate is groaning, sagging, or the weld is showing rust cracks, call (682) 841-5749 today. We’ll diagnose the actual problem, give you a written price, and make the weld right the first time.
