FAAC keypad and intercom repair in Fort Worth typically runs $185 to $420 installed, depending on whether we’re replacing a membrane keypad, a receiver board, or the full exterior unit. We stock FAAC-compatible keypads and intercom modules on our trucks, so most repairs happen the same visit. The usual discovery goes like this: the keypad stops chirping, the gate ignores the code, or the intercom speaker goes quiet and you’re left walking guests in through the front door.
If your FAAC keypad has quit responding, don’t assume the whole system is dead. In our experience across Fort Worth, the keypad itself fails first, while the control board and motor are often perfectly fine. That’s the repair we’re talking about here: matching the right FAAC part to your panel, wiring it cleanly, and making sure the gate actually moves when you punch the code.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
We work on the full range of FAAC residential and light commercial keypads and intercoms. That includes the FAAC XK-7 and XK-30 series keypads, plus the FAAC D-600 and D-1000 digital keypads still common on Fort Worth homes built in the 2010s. If your panel says FAAC but the label has faded, check inside the battery compartment or under the faceplate: the model stamp is usually there.
One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: FAAC keypads from the older DS-1 era run on a different communication protocol than the newer XK series. They look similar from the outside, but they aren’t interchangeable, and mixing them with a newer FAAC control board gives intermittent results. The “keypad works sometimes” complaint almost always traces back to a mismatched part. We’ll always verify the model before ordering or installing, so you don’t pay for something that’ll flake out in three weeks.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question for FAAC specifically: we recommend OEM keypads and intercom parts where they’re still available. Aftermarket FAAC-compatible keypads exist, and we’ve seen some decent ones, but the weather seals and UV-stable plastics on the genuine article last longer in Texas sun. If your panel faces west, that matters. We’ll give you the straight price for both and let you decide.

Signs Your FAAC Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
- No beep when you press keys. The membrane or tactile switch layer is worn out. That’s the most common FAAC keypad failure we see. It usually starts with one or two dead keys, then spreads. Replacement keypads are readily available and take under an hour to swap.
- Code accepted, gate doesn’t move. The keypad may be fine; the output relay on the keypad board has likely failed. We test continuity here first so you don’t replace a perfectly good keypad.
- Intermittent operation, worse after rain. Water intrusion through a failed gasket or cracked housing. Fort Worth’s spring storms and hundred-degree summers are hard on exterior plastics. We’ll look for moisture trails and seal the new unit properly.
- Intercom speaker crackles or goes silent. The intercom module’s speaker cone is typically damaged, or the wire from the intercom to the control board has corroded at the terminal. We replace the module or reterminate the wiring; a full intercom swap is rare.
- Keypad lights up but keys don’t register. The ribbon cable between the faceplate and the board has pulled loose or developed a short. We see this on panels that have been pressure-washed, which forces water behind the faceplate.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what FAAC keypad and intercom repair costs in Fort Worth right now:
- Keypad replacement (FAAC XK series): $185 to $320 installed, part included.
- Keypad replacement (FAAC DS-1 or D-series): $240 to $420 installed, part included, since these units are harder to source and sometimes need a small wiring adapter.
- Intercom module only (speaker/mic): $150 to $280 installed.
- Full keypad and intercom faceplate assembly: $320 to $500 installed, depending on model and whether your panel is surface-mounted or recessed.
Every quote is written before work starts, so the number you see is the number you pay. That price covers the part, the labor, the wiring check at the control board, and a function test where we run the gate through several open-close cycles and confirm the keypad code works from a cold start. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do a few things before calling: check whether the keypad has power (most FAAC keypads run on low-voltage wiring from the control board, not batteries), make sure the faceplate isn’t cracked, and dry off the surface after rain. But beyond that, we’d leave the rest to a trained tech. FAAC keypads wire directly into the gate’s control board, and an incorrect connection can fry the board itself. That’s a $400 to $900 mistake you don’t want to own.
What we see at least once a month in Fort Worth: a homeowner replaced the keypad themselves, got the wire colors crossed, and the gate started opening on its own at 2 a.m. The new part was fine; the wiring map wasn’t. If you want it done once and done right, call (682) 841-5749 and we’ll come out.
FAQs
Expect 6 to 10 years from a FAAC keypad in Fort Worth’s climate, less if the panel faces afternoon sun without shade. The membrane layer that reads your key presses wears out from UV and heat cycling. If your keypad is older than seven years and starting to miss keystrokes, replacement is more cost-effective than trying to repair the membrane. Call (682) 841-5749 with the model number and we’ll quote it over the phone.
We can sometimes repair a keypad by replacing the ribbon cable or resealing the faceplate, but in most cases, replacing the unit is cheaper and more reliable. Once the membrane layer wears out, individual keys can’t be swapped. We’ll always test first and tell you honestly whether repair buys you anything.
Most keypad or intercom replacements are finished in 45 to 90 minutes on site. We bring the part with us, confirm fitment at the truck, and usually have your gate working before we leave. For older DS-1 era panels, we may need a short return visit if a wiring adapter has to be ordered, but we’ll tell you that upfront.
We stock common FAAC keypads, intercom modules, and wiring harnesses on our trucks, so most Fort Worth customers don’t wait on a part. If your model is rare, we can usually source it within two to three business days. We’ll tell you the timeline before you commit to anything.
